Every year in February, Major Taylor Cycling Club of Columbus, under the guidance of Russ Meyer, does an early year training ride called the Brass Monkey. Legend has it the name stems from the type of anatomy one would need to ride that time of year, but we’re really not sure.
In any event, this year, instead of traveling to Northern Kentucky as we normally do, we traveled to North Bend to check out some of the “warm up routes” and introduce other members to the park, the cabins and West Virginia in general.
The slide shows below offer a glimpse of that weekend. We’ve constructed a few of them, including a peek inside the cabins (for those contemplating a cabin), another peek from the back porch of the cabins (to see how close you will be to other clubs), a look into the ride did (although as Russ keeps reminding me – this is just a warm up route) and lastly, a good look at the faces of those in attendance (we think that tells the best and most complete story.)
And if you need more convincing this is the place to be in April, check out these two recent testimonials
So have a look, enjoy and let us know if you have any questions.
