10am Sunday. Time to say so long or the Petroleum route.
Todays roll is for those who live near by and want to get one last run in before hitting the road home. While its relatively short, it is not short on beauty or smooth carpet like rolling hills.
We start with an exit from the park towards Cairo. Take Low Gap Road out of the park until it dead ends. Turn left and a mile down the road you’ll run into Cairo-Cisco road (you’ve been here before) and head right.
Enjoy the smooth roll for about ten miles and turn right on Buffalo Run (and don’t be afraid, that climb is shorter than you think). Follow the Orange arrows while you enjoy the smooth tarmac type roads.
4 miles up the road you’ll run into the small mining town of Petroleum. You could miss it if you blink, but its the spot where the North Bend single track trails crosses the road.
Follow the arrows along the winding Goose Creek until you run into SR 50. Turn right and stay to the right. This is the most hazardous section of the entire weekend but don’t worry, its only 3/4 mile long.
Turn right at the fuel tanks, following the signs to Cairo and enjoy the next seven miles into town. Just past Cairo, turn left onto Low Gap and in 3 1/2 miles you’ll be back at the park, ready to pack up and get on down the road.
