No, I know how to count, but the name of this ride is the road numbers we observed as we were exploring the area.
We start today the same way all the routes start, the 1.5 mile climb from the cabins to the lodge and the epic descent to Harrisville. Today we will follow red arrows. Once in Harrisville, we will follow the same route as the welcome ride out Route 32. This will give anyone that missed Wednesday the chance to ride this great section.
Don’t worry; we have something different planned for today! We will turn left on Cisco-Cairo Road (15) and head out into the country. There are some great climbs and some surprising twists that will keep your attention.
We will turn left onto Washburn-Gillespie road (17). This road will follow the Gillespie Run creek and pass some really nice farms until we climb up to the top of the ridge. The ridge offers some great views and a lot of rolling terrain. We will drop down the other side and come to Route 16.
Turning left on 16, we will ride up and stop at the Chevaux De-Frise general store. This store is not to be missed, not only for the reason that it offers country charm and character, but for the simple fact that it is the only store on the route.
This is where the A and B routes will separate. The A route will climb Chevaux De-Frise to Pullman Road and descend down to Harrisville, while the B route will get back on 16 for the run into Harrisville.
Remember that first descent of the day? Well, now we get to climb it. It is a wonderful section with all the features of a major tour climb, only smaller in scale. Drop back down past the lodge to the cabins and you’re in.
